If you’re lucky enough to be carrying a pair of Swarovski NL Pure binoculars, you know how critical it is to have a solid tripod adapter. Swarovski’s new TAs Bino Adapter is built just for the NL Pure series, promising a secure, stable mount with that classic Swarovski quality. In this review, we’re digging into what the adapter’s got going for it, where it might fall short, and how it holds up out in the field.
What’s the Deal with the TA-S Adapter?
This adapter has been a long time coming for NL Pure users. It’s got some great features that make it easy to use and secure in the field.
Key features:
- ARCA-Swiss Base: The TA-S comes with an ARCA-Swiss base, so it mounts on tons of tripods using that system. Not on ARCA-Swiss? No problem—just use your own plate.
- Secure Locking Mechanism: It’s got a locking lever that makes sure your binos are secure with no wobble.
- Made for NL Pure: This is designed just for NL Pure binoculars, specifically models made after mid-2024. It works with the 10x52mm, 14x52mm, and 10x32mm. If you’ve got an older NL Pure, check your serial number or consider Swarovski’s retrofit option.
- TAs adapter is compatible with:
- NL Pure 32 (from serial number BD1425291A)
- NL Pure 42 (from serial number AD1452771A)
- NL Pure 52
- Retrofit option for NL Pure 32 (up to serial number BD1425291A) and NL Pure 42 (up to serial number AD1452771A) is available at no cost when you purchase the TAs from an authorized Swarovski dealer.
How to Mount the TA-S
Mounting this adapter is easy once you know the trick. But first you’ll need to remove the dust cover from your binoculars center hinge to attach it. This exposes the interior, which could let in some dust and dirt, so that’s something to think about if you’re often out in rough conditions. Once its removed you’ll notice a small lip on the bino adapter where you have to land the binoculars. Once they are set down on this lip, you can secure the mount my moving the lever up.
Pros and Cons of the TA-S Adapter
Pros
- Solid Fit and Secure Lock: Swarovski’s known for quality, and this adapter lives up to that. Once it’s on, it’s on—no shake or movement.
- Built Tough: This adapter’s rugged enough to handle rough terrain, rain, and whatever else you throw at it.
- ARCA-Swiss Compatibility: This adapter plays well with a lot of tripods, so if you’re out with other hunters, it’s easy to switch around without a fuss.
Cons
- Steep Price: At around $200, it’s a pricey adapter. You’re paying for quality, but it’s something to consider.
- Dust Cover Removal: Having to remove the dust cover isn’t ideal. You’re leaving the threads exposed, which might not sit well with everyone.
- Not the Fastest to Attach: If you’re in a hurry, mounting this adapter can be a bit tricky, especially until you get the hang of it.
Field Test: My Experience with the TA-S Adapter
I took this adapter out with my 10×52 NL Pure binoculars while scouting this summer. Once I got it locked on, it was solid as a rock, even after handing it to other hunters. The ARCA-Swiss base made it super easy to swap with other tripods too.
The downside? It’s not the quickest to set up, especially the first time. I had to be careful to align it just right, which isn’t ideal if you’re rushing to get a look at a moving target. It’s something you’ll get used to with practice, though.
The Bottom Line
The Swarovski TA-S Bino Adapter is a high-quality piece of gear if you’re all-in on Swarovski and want a mount built specifically for NL Pure binoculars. The dust cover issue might give some pause, but if you can live with that, this adapter will give you a steady, reliable connection in the field.
For those who want something that’s versatile, there might be other options to consider, but if you want top-quality stability and don’t mind the price, this is a solid pick.
